Frequently asked questions

What is a wRVU?+

Work RVU (relative value unit) is the physician-effort component of a CMS payment. Each CPT or HCPCS code has a wRVU set annually by CMS. Most employed-physician compensation models pay a base salary plus a bonus per wRVU above a productivity threshold, which is why understanding the wRVU value of each code you bill directly drives your annual income.

What's new in the 2026 Medicare fee schedule for outpatient providers?+

The 2026 PFS conversion factor is $33.4009. Most office-visit E/M wRVUs are unchanged from 2025, G2211 continues as a billable add-on for longitudinal care, and several preventive services were rebalanced. RVUDoc seeds directly from the CMS RVU26B release and updates annually.

When should I use G2211?+

G2211 is an add-on code billable with an office-visit E/M when you are the continuity provider for a patient's longitudinal care. Common scenarios: established primary care follow-ups for chronic conditions, ongoing management of complex disease, and the longitudinal-care portion of a wellness visit. Cannot be reported with modifier 25. Documentation should reflect the longitudinal relationship.

Is RVUDoc HIPAA compliant? Can I paste clinical notes?+

RVUDoc is not a HIPAA-covered entity. We never store the vignettes you paste into Capture Audit beyond the model request. Deidentify notes before pasting: remove names, dates of birth, MRNs, addresses, and any direct identifiers. We treat any pasted content as a one-time prompt, not protected health information.

Can I use RVUDoc for any specialty?+

RVUDoc covers outpatient providers (physicians, NPs, and PAs) across primary care and outpatient specialties: cardiology, endocrinology, gastroenterology, pulmonology, nephrology, rheumatology, infectious disease, hematology/oncology, neurology, allergy/immunology, and geriatrics. Adult hospital medicine is covered too: hospitalist E/M (99221-99239), critical care (99291, 99292), and inpatient consults (99252-99255) are in the catalog, and the chart audit detects inpatient and observation settings automatically. OR-heavy procedural specialties are out of scope for now.

Does RVUDoc work for practice owners and partners?+

Yes. The Pro Max tier adds an owner/partner track to the calculator: practice collections minus fixed overhead, billing fees, and variable cost per visit, plus ancillary revenue, split across partners, with an optional effective tax adjustment and a five-year projection. Employed providers can model base salary plus a wRVU bonus (flat rate or tiered brackets) on every tier and benchmark projected comp against MGMA and AAMC style percentiles.
